Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik wins Best Administrator in India award

Leaving behind all the nominees for the “Outlook Speakout” awards, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has been announced as the Best Administrator in India.

He was chosen from among six Chief Ministers including Nitish Kumar, Manik Sarkar, Mamata Banerjee, Devendra Fadnavis and Siddaramaiah. The award was presented to Naveen by former President Pranab Mukherjee at a function at New Delhi.

After receiving the Outlook India Speakout best administrator award in New Delhi, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik dedicated it to the 4.5 crore people of Odisha.

“I would like to dedicate the award to the 4.5 crore people of my State. Odisha was importing rice when I became the Chief Minister in 2000. Today, we are the 3rd largest contributors to the public distribution system in the country,” said Patnaik after receiving the award from former President of India Pranab Mukherjee at a special function.

However, Patnaik became the winner as the Best Administrator in the country for his good work during floods and cyclones like Phailin and Hudhud that devastated Odisha many a time during his 18 years of rule.

Having shed the most backward State tag under his stewardship, Odisha is now held as a model of development and economic growth. Besides, Odisha’s agricultural transformation has been unparalleled.

From being dependent on others for its minimum food requirements, it has not only become self-sufficient in foodgrain production, but also plays a vital role in ensuring food security for the people of the country, the citation said.
