Odisha: Gems and Jewellery Park to be developed by Gitanjali Group

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday laid the foundation stone of the Gems and Jewellery Park at Ramadaspur in Cuttack district.

The jewellery manufacturing hub, developed by Gitanjali Group, will be a huge opportunity for our State. Spread over 100 acres, it will give Odisha an unique position of leadership in the East as the sectors has been mainly concentrated in Western India.

Gitanjali Gems Limited had proposed setting up a gems and jewellery processing unit during discussions with the State Delegation during Make in India week in Mumbai in February 2016. The state level committee, headed by Chief Secretary A P Padhi, accepted the offer submitted by Gitanjali Gems Limited which is the anchor investor for the upcoming industrial park.

The Gems and Jewellery Park will house manufacturing units of world famous brands besides local enterprises. The company proposed to bring in its associates and promoters like Asmi, Nakshatra, GILI, Sangini, Nirvana, Kairana, Valente, Viola to the Park.

It will be a blessing for our jewellery artisans and youth as it is expected to create direct/indirect employment opportunities for over 16,000 people. It is also projected to attract investment of over Rs. 700 crore.

“I have stressed time-bound execution and completion of the projects. These will open vistas for the youth and secure a better future for them by ensuring jobs and livelihood. We are all set to host the ‘Make In Odisha Conclave’ from 30 November to 2 December. I am certain the conclave will be a huge success and create a new era in development, growth and progress of our State,” wrote CM Naveen Patnaik on his Facebook page.
