Odisha govt to send land ‘patta’ to buyer through speed post

In a bid to bring transparency in tehsil offices and provide hassle free service to people, the Odisha government has decided to send the land ‘patta’ to the property buyer through speed post service of India Post.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik recently gave nod to the proposal presented by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department. The move will curb middlemen menace in tehsil offices.

According to reports, the RoRs (patta) will be sent to the property buyers via speed post service of India Post. In order to avail the service, a buyer will have to deposit Rs 40 with the registering authority.

Out of the deposited amount, Rs 30 will be deducted as postal charges and Rs 10 will be spent for procuring a waterproof envelope, in which the patta will be dispatched.

“An MoU between the Indian Post and Revenue department will be inked soon to offer the service to people through speed post. Once the service is launched, the property buyers will no longer have to run to the tehsil office repeatedly,” Revenue and Disaster Management minister Maheswar Mohanty said.
