Odisha man wins Rs 50 lakh in Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) quiz show

Sunil Kumar Tandi of Odisha’s Balangir won Rs 50 lakh in Diwali special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) quiz show, aired on Sony Entertainment Television yesterday.

Sunil is reportedly a District Welfare Officer at Sundargarh. The government officer is the first person from Odisha to win Rs 50 lakh in this season of KBC which has been constantly topping the charts as most watched television show in India.

He made it to the hot seat of the superstar Amitabh Bachchan-hosted show by surpassing nine other contestants in ‘fastest finger first’ round. Accompanied by his friend Jayakrushna Sahu as ‘jodidaar’ in the show, Tandi grabbed the whopping amount of Rs 50 lakh.

He also used phone-a-friend lifeline to call his friend Madanjeet Hota to assist him in answering a question. His wife was also present among the audience when he achieved the feat.

After clearing 14 rounds out of the total 16 rounds, Sunil opted to quit the game with the amount as he ran out of lifelines. He was praised by Bachchan for the way he analysed questions before selecting correct answer options.
