Odisha ranks 7 in World Bank’s ease of doing business list

World Bank has ranked Odisha in the 7th position in ease of doing business in India with a 52.12 per cent score.

Gujarat is the best place in the country to do business, says the World Bank report.

Odisha, usually a laggard, has scored much better than many developed states like Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Tamil Nadu, among others, in the list.

Andhra Pradesh bagged the second position with 70.12 per cent followed by Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

The overall findings is part of the Central government’s efforts along with The World Bank, and industry bodies, to assess the parameters and the business-friendly states in the country.

The rankings are based on a 98-point action plan, the report showed. Each of the implmentation status is converted into a percentage, and the basis of the total, they have been given a ranking, it said.

Odisha Government

Among the major States, West Bengal occupied the 11th slot, Tamil Nadu (12th), Haryana (14th), Delhi (15th), Punjab (16th), Himachal Pradesh (17th), Kerala (18th), Goa (19th), Bihar (21st) and Assam (22nd).

Arunachal Pradesh is ranked the last with 1.23 percent.
