Results of Odisha Teachers Eligibility Test (OTET) declared

Results of the Odisha Teachers Eligibility Test (OTET) 2013 (II), conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) were declared on Wednesday.

You can check your OTET result at www.orissaresults.nic.in by submitting your Roll No or Application Form No.

The results have once again raised serious questions over the quality of education in the state. The pass percentage in paper I is at an all time low.

Only 6.97% candidates have qualified in the Paper I exam, meant for primary schools, while 13.65% cleared the examination for Paper II meant for the upper primary category.

The OTET was introduced by the state in 2012 to improve the quality of teaching in schools.

While 3322 candidates have qualified in Paper I, 5593 have qualified in Paper II of the OTET, said a notification issued by the BSE.

The dismal performance of candidates has raised concern among experts. They said the results reflect the poor standards of training imparted at government teachers training institutions.

Odisha Teachers Eligibility Test (OTET) certification is mandatory to become a teacher for classes I to VIII in any government school.
