Pink Autos in Bhubaneswar for women

The Commissionerate Police on Friday launched ‘Pink Auto’ service, an initiative to offer safe and hassle-free transport to women in the Twin City of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

The drivers of approved Pink Auto have been issued separate identity cards by the police. They are well trained and groomed to interact decently with women passengers and react sensibly to emergencies.

In the initial phase of this pilot project, the commissionerate has arranged 215 pink autorickshaws to run in various locations of the city. These are Bhubaneswar Railway Station, Baramunda bus stand, Capital hospital, Ram Mandir Square, Vanivihar Junction and Chandrasekharpur.

Each of these autos have retro-reflective stickers which are prominently visible from a distance and in dark. Besides prominence, the stickers will display Emergency and Quick Action Team (QAT) numbers on them. These vehicles will be equipped with a first-aid and a suggestion box for the passengers.
