Pitobash Tripathy part of Vidya Balan starrer ‘Begum Jaan’ film

Odia actor Pitobash Tripathy has added another feather to his cap by bagging a pivotal role in the Vidya Balan starrer ‘Begum Jaan’ film. His character’s name is Sujit in the film.

The Srijit Mukherji film – a remake of the director’s 2015 Bengali hit, Raj Kahini – is centred around a courtesan and her brothel and is set in the backdrop of the India-Pakistan partition. The movie will release on 14th April.

Vidya is playing the title role in the flick, which also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Pallavi Sharda, Gauhar Khan, Ila Arun, Ashish Vidyarthi and Chunky Pandey, among others.

“The film is set against the 1947 Partition and my role is an important one. But I can’t reveal more about the role or the film now. All I can say is that the film is historical drama and my role is very different from what I’ve done till date,” Pitobash said. He is also working in Mom – a Ravi Udayar film, which also stars Sridevi, Akshaye Khanna and Adnan Siddiqui, among others.

Pitobash Tripathy started acting with the movie 99. He then appeared in a supporting role in 3 Idiots. Later, he acted in I Am Kalam, directed by Nila Madhab Panda, and Shor in the City. He also acted in the movie Mirch in five different roles. Additional appearance include the films Joker, Aalaap, Shanghai and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara.
