Prafulla Ghadei expelled from BJD

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today expelled former finance minister and senior BJD leader Prafulla Ghadei from the party after he called Naveen “physically and mentally dull” in an interview to an Odia daily.

Ghadei, who was denied MLA ticket in this year’s Assembly election, in an interview to Odia daily ‘Sambad’ this morning, described Naveen as a ‘wonder’, who does not understand anything and remains incommunicado, but continues to be the chief minister.

Just before the announcement of his expulsion, Ghadei along with his son MLA Pritiranjan met party supremo at the Secretariat. However, he denied to divulge the matter he discussed with Naveen during meeting.

Reacting to his expulsion, Ghadei said “I don’t want to comment on the decision of party chief. Let people decide.”

The full text of Prafulla Ghadei’s interview, portions of which is published in today’s edition of ‘Sambad’, will appear in the newspaper on Sunday.

In the interview, Ghadei alleged that Naveen was in the firm grip of an IAS officer, a former IAS officer, a senior IPS officer, two MPs and a businessman.

“The chief minister only knows how to take revenge and is adept in keeping the partymen on a tight leash. Not just the BJD people, even opposition Congress and BJP are scared of the chief minister,” he said.
