Police have initiated a probe into the death of choreographer and Odia TV serial actor Raja Pattnaik.
Sources said police had summoned programme coordinator Pralay Jena, actress Jessy and driver Dhaneswar Behera, who were travelling with Raja on the fateful day, to report at the police station following a complaint by Raja’s uncle Amiya Pattnaik, who alleged he was murdered.
As they did not turn up on Wednesday, three separate teams raided their houses in Bhubaneswar early on Thursday. While Pralay was picked up from his Chandrasekharpur residence, Dhaneswar was taken from Nayapalli. Jessy and her family were absent in their rented house at Shakti Nagar, he said. “We have registered a case and they are being interrogated,” he said, adding that efforts were on to locate the actress.
After taking Jena and Behera into custody, Soro police on Thursday began investigation. Police took Dhaneswar – the driver of the vehicle in which Raja was returning and Pralay Jena – event coordinator, who was a co-passenger of deceased actor Raja on the fateful day to the spot where he had allegedly met with the accident later leading to his death.
Dhaneswar and Pralay were asked by Soro police to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to Raja’s alleged accident and later leading to his death.
Notably, Raja was declared dead at SCB Medical College and Hospital on Sunday who reportedly fell off the road near Chaparpada bridge over river Kansa Bansa in Balasore district while he had gone to pass urine. The actor was returning after acting in a stage show by Kalingakanya Gananatya at Taranka Tipisigadia under Makhanpur panchayat under Khaira block in Balasore district.
