Incredibly rare white snake found in Odisha capital Bhubaneswar

A bright white snake with an “incredibly rare mutation” was found in Kalinga Vihar area on the outskirts of Odisha capital Bhubaneswar.

The two-ft-long snake was spotted by the locals while it was crossing the road. The locals caught the reptile and handed over to the snake helpline.

Earlier, a white snake was found in Bhubaneswar and released it at Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP). Later, the snake was reportedly stolen from the enclosure.

Albino snakes cannot survive in the wild for long as its white colour makes it an easy prey. It is a rare snake due to its genetic disorder.

Common Kukri is a small non-venomous nocturnal reptile found in various parts of India, but the albino species has been hardly spotted, said herpetologists. Albinism is an inherited condition characterised by little or no melanin production in the body.
