Sambalpur Bandh for IIM disrupts normal life today

Locals in Sambalpur observed a 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh today to protest the decision taken by the Odisha government to set up the proposed IIM in Bhubaneswar.

While vehicular traffic came to a grinding halt, all educational institutions, government offices and trading and business establishments remained closed.

To put pressure on the state government to change its decision, the protestors blocked the National Highway 55 at Ainthapali.

The protestors also detained Sambalpur-Rayagada Express train at Khetrajpur railway station for about 15 minutes.
