Sambalpuri Saree to be available on Amazon India e-commerce site

It is good news for the Sambalpuri Saree lovers that now the famous sarees will be available on e-commerce site Amazon India.

One can sit at home and decide which saree to purchase, and it would be delivered at the doorstep. One can pay for the product after delivery.

The weavers also now need not worry about the marketing part. They can sell their sarees from their homes. Recently, the officials of Amazon India held a training programme for the weavers in Sonepur to appraise the weavers of their needs and expectations.

With the tie-up, the weavers can easily get access to the national and international markets through the e-commerce platform. Besides, they can get appropriate prices for their products and it can save them from exploitation of middlemen, said a weaver.

Sambalpuri Saree is a traditional handwoven ikat or sari or saree (locally called sadhi) wherein the warp and the weft are tie-dyed before weaving. It is produced in the Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Balangir district, Boudh District of Odisha.
