Sarathi Baba in Crime Branch custody: Taken to Cuttack

After marathon interrogation which lasted for over 12 hours by Crime Branch team in Barimul ashram of self-proclaimed Godman Sarathi Baba in Kendrapara, police have taken him custody during the wee hours of Saturday.

Led by Crime Branch IG Arun Bothra, the Crime Branch team brought the Baba to Cuttack where he would be quizzed at the investigating agency’s headquarters. Bothra informed that the police have seized vital documents from Sarathi ashram premises.

Sources revealed all bank accounts owned by Sarathi and his Satyam trust has been seized. Huge quantity of gold ornaments was seized. The Crime Brach has also seized documents of huge property. Several staff and inmates of the ashram have also been interrogated and several vital information being gathered, sources said.

Along with him, as many as two of his aides have also been taken into custody by the Crime Branch. The probe agency has also sought details of his stay and CCTV footages from the hotel authorities through Hyderabad Police Commissionerate.

The Crime Brach, which was assigned the probe into his immoral activities and charges of cheating and criminal intimidation, is likely to take further action basing on its interrogation of the Baba. Sources said, he may be formally arrested soon.
