Sex racket in a beauty parlour at Bhubaneswar busted

Commissionerate police busted a sex racket operating out of a beauty parlour in Unit III area under Kharvel Nagar police limits in city Bhubaneswar.

The raid was carried out by Kharavela Nagar police on the basis of a tip-off. As many as five persons were arrested and three girls rescued.

The accused have been identified as Mohammad Samim, Najid Khan, Rajkumar Sharma, all residents of Bihar and currently staying at Kharvel Nagar area, Debashish Nanda and Chittaranjan, both belong to Bhubaneswar.

Further investigation has revealed that one among the rescued women hails from Bihar. The beauty parlour owner used to bring women from the neighbouring state and used to engage them in illegal sex trade.

Most of these rackets are operating from beauty parlours and massage centres now.

Though officials said there were around 170 beauty parlours in Bhubaneswar, including 85 in Laxmisagar and Badagada police station areas, their actual number would be more than 500.

Sex racket

IIC of Kharvela Nagar police station Sanjib Satpathy said police have information about three similar rackets running in the same locality which will be busted soon.

The arrested persons were sent to judicial custody after they were produced in a local court. The rescued girls were sent to a short-stay home.
