Snana Purnima of Lord Jagannath 2023

The Snana Jatra or Snana Purnima is an important event in the run-up to the Rath Yatra or the Car Festival. It is a ceremonial public bath ceremony of the three deities of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra. The deities are bathed by 108 pitchers of water drawn from a well situated near the Sitala temple in the confines of the Jagannath temple.

On the Badadanda (grand road), in front of the Jagannath temple, temporary sheds will be erected with the growing temperature in mind. There will be plans in place to make it simple for devotees to move around. A facility for drinking water will also be present. There will be barricades from Marchikot Chhak or Market Square to regulate the crowd and manage the traffic because it is anticipated that a sizable number of devotees would arrive to receive a darshan of the deities.
