The tallest statue of Lord Ganesh in Odisha has come up at Saheed Nagar in Bhubaneswar.
The 35-feet tall idol, named ‘Thailand Ganesh’, will be a major attraction on the festival to be observed on September 5.
With Ganesh Chaturthi round the corner, work is on in full swing to finish idols of the elephant god.
“As many as 10 artists have been working to complete the gigantic Ganesh idol. This is the highest idol in the city and will attract people in huge numbers. Another major attraction would be a 18 kg laddu in the hands of the lord,” said president of Winner Association, a youth club in Bhubaneswar.
Last year, the club had made a 30-feet high statue of Lord Ganesh. Besides the huge idol, the association has organized a eight-day long special cultural programme during the festival.
Like last year, this year too club members plan to ‘immerse’ the statue by spraying water on it with the help of the fire brigade.
