Temples to be built at Daru sites of Jagatsinghpur, Odisha
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) in Puri has decided to build temples at places, where sacred neem trees for making idols of Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra were found.
The SJTA will provide Rs 5 lakh each for building shrines at the three locations – Kharipadia, Kanakpur and Adhanga – in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district.
“It won’t be possible to set up a temple at Gadakantunia, where Sudarshan’s tree was found, as the place is located on river bed,” said Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, chief administrator SJTA.
All the four locations including that of Gadakuntunia, will be provided with a chariot wheel as a memento, Mohapatra added.
The chief administrator said Arakhita Mallick, the owner of the plot where the daru of Lord Jagannath was located, will be compensated with an amount of Rs three lakh for the loss sustained by him.
