ORISSA JEE – Orissa Joint Entrance Examination

Orissa JEE is an annual exam conducted by BPUT or Biju Patnaik University of Technology to take admission in various disciplines like Engineering (B.Tech), Medical (MBBS/BDS), Architecture (B.Arch), Pharmacy, Hotel Management & Catering. After qualifying Orissa JEE or Odisha JEE, a student can take admission in any college affilliated to BPUT. But the student has to choose a college during counselling according to his/her JEE rank.

History of Orissa JEE

In 1979, REC Rourkela first conducted Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for the state quota of Orissa. At that time, there are two Enginnering Colleges in Orissa namely REC Rourkela (presently NIT Rourkela) and University College of Engineering (UCE), Burla. In later years many other colleges are established in Orissa and came under JEE.

From 2003, BPUT or Biju Patnaik University of Technology conducting JEE in the state of Orissa. Now more medium of courses and colleges of Orissa come under JEE.

Orissa JEE Eligibility

Engineering/Technology:

To take admission in First Year Bachelor programme in Engineering/Technology, you should have passed or appearing in 10+2 examination of CHSE, Orissa or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics, and one from Chemistry/Computer Science/Biology/Biotechnology or pass in 10+3 diploma course in engineering including those having less than 60% marks in aggregate from SCTET, Orissa or equivalent.

Architecture:

(i) Passed or Appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board with Mathematics as a subject of study by securing minimum 50% marks in aggregate. OR

(ii) Passed 10+3 diploma in any stream recognized by central/state govt with 50% aggregate marks.
