Papu Pam Pam joins BJD

In keeping with the current trend of film stars joining politics, Odisha’s most popular comedian Tatwa Prakash Satpathy aka Papu Pam Pam joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) after meeting Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence on Sunday.

On joining the ruling party, the actor said his immense liking for the BJD has attracted him to be a part of it.

“I like BJD. The State has been progressing for last 14 years under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik. I had requested the honourable CM to include me in his party and he kept my request”, Papu said.

Sources said the actor, who hails from Mayurbhanj district, is likely to be fielded as a candidate in the next Assembly election.

Papu Pam Pam had campaigned for BJD in the urban local body (ULB) polls. Odia film industry’s matinee idol Anubhav Mohanty had joined the party a few months ago.

“Papu Pam Pam, who is joining the BJD, will prove to be an asset for the party”, BJD president and CM Naveen Patnaik said.

Apart from him, as many as 72 Congress members and some from BJP also joined the BJD.
