AC buses for Bhubaneswar

The Bhubaneswar Puri Transport Service Limited (BPTSL) is set to add more buses to its existing fleet which will also include air-conditioned bus for the first time.

BPTSL has proposed to purchase 10 AC buses, 15 standard buses and 30 mini buses.

“The AC buses will primarily ply on the route between Nandankanan and the airport. This was proposed keeping in mind the new airport,” said BMC Commissioner Sanjib Mishra.

He also added that the they might consider plying the AC buses along Bhubaneswar-Cuttack and Bhubaneswar-Puri route. These buses will have less number of stoppages.

BPTSL officials are expecting to issue the tender for purchase by March.

It will take three months from the issue of tender to run the buses. The new buses are expected to ply by July.

Three private bus manufacturing agencies gave their representations at BPTSL meeting held on Wednesday. The State Government has sanctioned BPTSL `15 crore for augmenting the city buses that ply through the city and outside. Presently 13 routes are operating in the city and also between Bhubaneswar-Cuttack and Bhubaneswar-Puri.
