Apply online to become entrepreneur

Anybody aspiring to be an entrepreneur can now take the online route to apply for setting up a micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME).

This will kick-start from April 1, a presentation on online EM application at district industries centre (DIC) on Monday revealed.

The single-window system powered by entrepreneur memorandum (EM) portal, which has been designed by National Informatics Centre (NIC), will make the application process hassle-free.

The entrepreneurs can open their user IDs. After filling the requisite details in the EM-1 form (which is a prerequisite to obtain approval to run an industry) provided in the portal, the entrepreneurs will be given a reference number, which is automatically generated. The general managers at DICs, who will also have their respective user IDs, can access the entrepreneurs’ data and scrutinize them for approval.

The software has been designed in such a way that there is a five-day default setting for the approval. The entrepreneurs will automatically get to know within five days of submitting the application whether it is approved or not. The portal will also show if the application is rejected or under process or put on hold.

Earlier, if any application was rejected on grounds of insufficient documents, the entrepreneurs couldn’t know about it. Now they can see the ground on which it was rejected.

EM-1 is a simple approval. Actual approval called EM-2 is given after entrepreneurs procure the machinery for industries. (Source – The Times of India)
