Ashokastami Rath Yatra 2015 – Lingaraj Rukuna Rath Yatra

Ashokastami Rath Yatra is also known as Lord Lingaraj Car Festival or Rukuna Rath Yatra.

Lingaraj Temple is situated at Bhubaneswar, Orissa (Odisha).

The annual car festival of Lord Lingaraj is widely famous as Ashokastami Rath Yatra. It is the annual festival celebrated on the eighth day of the month of Chaitra (March or April) with great enthusiasm.

Ashokastami Rath Yatra 2015 date is 27 March.

On this day, the idol of Lord Lingaraj is carried on a decorated chariot from the main temple to Mausi Maa Temple (also known as Rameswar temple) and returned after four days after the ritual bath in the Bindu Sarovara pond.

Large number of devotees gathered here to attend the festival and pay homage to the Lingaraj Dev.
