Balasore Book Fair from Dec 23

A book fair and a multi-lingual drama festival will be hosted in Balasore from December 29 to January 5 by a literary organisation in association with Fakir Mohan University.

Book lovers from across the district are eagerly waiting for the fair to begin. Students are expected to turn up at the fair in large numbers.

For the book fair, so far 25 publishing houses have booked their kiosks.

“Good Book Kolkata, Odisha Text Book Bureau, Manorama Publications, Odisha Sahitya Academy, New Race, Chitrapola, Odisha Book Emporium are among the prominent publishing houses who would be taking part in the book fair.

Twenty colleges across the state have expressed the desire to take part in the multi-lingual drama competition. The plays will be staged in the Gandhi Smruti Bhavan auditorium.

“Various groups will stage plays in different languages including Hindi, Sanskrit, English, Kosali and Santhali. On the final day the prizes would be distributed among the winners,” said Prahallad Mohanty, one of the key organisers.

“We have been organising literary events for the past 22 years. We organise seminars and discussions on various facets of literature. We also organise plays,” said Sridev, secretary of the organisation Chandrabhaga.

“For the past 21 years we have been holding Chandrabhaga Mahatsov and for 17 years the book fairs. Along with the Fakir Mohan University, we will host the inter-college multi-lingual drama competition. Eminent literary personalities across the state will take part in the seminars and workshops,” he said. (Source – The Telegraph)
