Domain Names in Odia
Till now we are using English letters for our regional websites’ domain names. But after 2 years, we can get our own domain name in odia or any indian regional language. For example, all odia people can register a new domain name with .ଓଡିଶା extension (a State level TLD) and the URL will be www.ଓଡିଶାକଥା.ଓଡିଶା.
Recently, a national workshop has been organised by NIXI and CDAC at Bhubaneswar. Dr Govind, Head of Nixi told that – in 2 years oriya domain names will be available on internet, if all things happen according to our plan. Next year domain names will be available in seven indian regional languages i.e. Devnagiri, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Gujrati, Punjabi and Bengali. In second phase, domain names in odia will be available with some other languages.
