Orissa Sahitya Akademi award declared

The Orissa Sahitya Akademi announced state awards for contribution to different fields of literature for 2009 and 2010 on Tuesday. While 12 literateurs were selected for 2009, nine writers will receive the award for 2010, Akademi sources said.

Among the awardees for 2009, Krupasagar Sahu has been selected for his novel ‘Sesha Sarata’, Deba Prasad Dash has been selected for his short stories collection ‘Bhor’.

In the poetry section Prabasini Mahakud Tiwary will receive the award for her compilation of poems ‘Dhadie Simili Phula O Anyanya Kabita’.

Three writers have been selected for drama and One Act plays including Sanghamitra Mishra for ‘Basudhara Pratibada O anyanya nataka’, Simanta Mohanty’s ‘Asare Ame Banaku Jiba’, and Bijay Mohanty’s ‘Ajati’.

In the essay and criticism category Umesh Patri will get the award for his book ‘Aryanka Adi nibas’.

Similarly for travelogue, biography and translation Bijay Ketan Patnaik’s ‘Aranya Jatri’, Premananda Mohapatra’s ‘Manaswi Sadhaka’ and Sakuntala Baliyarsingh’s ‘Puni se Pherini’ have been selected respectively.

Manaswi Das’s ‘Akala Makala Takala Tia’ and Sachi Mohanty’s ‘Aparahnara Chhai’ will be awarded for child literature and poetry (geeti kabita) .

For 2010 Mamatamayee Chaudhury’s novel ‘Baisrabani’, Arabinda Ray’s short story collection ‘Bata Basaghara’, Soubhagyabanta Moharana’s ‘Mati Parba’ for drama, Krutibasa Nayak’s ‘Pathasala’ for one act play Dhaneswar Sahu’s ‘Sanskruti O sarbodaya’ for essay and criticism have been selected.

Similarly for biography and travelogue Basanta Das’s ‘Je desa jai se phala khai’, and in translation Khirod Parida’s ‘Nirbachita Shrestha Galpa’ have been selected.

In child literature Subhendra Mohan Srichandan Singh’s ‘Tiki Pari’ and Gourahari Dalai for ‘Pada Padma’ in geeti kabita category have been selected. (Source – The Times of India)
