Rajdhani Book Fair upto 12 December
This year Rajdhani Book Fair is emphasising on the importance of the Odia language with the theme ‘Lekha, Padha, Kuha Oriya Bhasa, banchao ama matru bhasa’ (Read, write and speak Oriya language, and save the mother tongue). The 12-day mega event is being hosted by the Rajdhani Book Fair Committee.
The Book Fair Committee has planned to host a number of seminars at the venue during the event. Like previous years, writers from different genres of Oriya literature will be awarded in the coming days.
Cultural programmes will be held in the evenings. The fair is on till December 12 and is open between 2 pm and 9 pm every day.
Publishers from more than 15 states are participating this year. Special discounts on books at different stalls are also an added advantage for those thronging the stalls.
According to Upendra Kumar Jena, President of Rajdhani Book Fair Committee “This year’s book fair is testimony to the next generation’s reading and speaking habits.†For some reason or the other, this generation seems to be shying away from using Oriya language, lamented Jena.
Multimedia products are a big draw among children at the Rajdhani Book Fair in the city. As many as 30 stalls have come up at the exhibition ground where the fair is being held.
A stall by the Jagannath temple administration remains a major attraction at the 12-day fair with publications on Jagannath and Mahaprasad .
