Four time Chief Minister of Nagaland and former Governor of Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat, 81-year-old SC Jamir was appointed as Governor of Odisha.
On this regard today formal notification issued from Rashtrapati Bhavan. It should be noted that earlier ministry of home affairs has been forwarded the file for appointing Jamir as the governor of Odisha for President Pranab Mukherjee’s assent.
Along with that President Pranab Mukherjee has also appointed new governors in Tripura, Bihar , Nagaland and Kerala.
President Pranab Mukherjee also transferred Governor of Tripura D Y Patil to Bihar and shifted Bihar Governor Devanand Konwar to Tripura for the remainder of their five-year terms, Rashtrapati Bhavan spoeksperson Venru Rajamony said in an official release.
Jamir replaced Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare. It should be noted that Bhandare, who was appointed as the 43rd governor of Odisha on August 21, 2007. He was appointed as governor to Odisha when Shivraj Patil was Home Minister. Bhandare, who during his tenure had introduced the Governor’s Trophy at the district and state levels, said his aim was to further promote the rich culture and tradition of the state.
