Seven new projects for Odisha Tourism

Orissa State Government has decided to take up seven projects for development of tourism in the State under the public private partnership (PPP) mode. The State Government has already signed agreement with 10 private parties for the PPP projects.

The PPP projects include development of 56 properties of the Tourism Department. Out of the 56 properties of Department of Tourism, agreements have so far been signed for the development of 12 properties.

The properties are, Panthasalas at Harisankar, Nrusinghnath, Ratnagiri, Patharajpur, Lalitgiri, Bangiriposi and Daringbadi, tourist complexes at Ranipur Jharial and Harisankar, tourist reception centre at Udaygiri, wayside amenities centre at Talchua and bathing complex at Atri.

These projects also include development and management of South Indian specialised restaurants at Konark, Satapada and Cuttack, provision of houseboats at 12 places, identified by the Water Resources and Tourism departments and opening of water sports facilities at 16 places.

The projects include opening of aquarium/oceanarium and amusement park on the Puri-Konark marine drive and setting up of a eco-camp at Ramchandi.

Official sources said that houseboat operation will be introduced at Ramchandi at Konark, Tampara, Nua Nai, Puri, Chilika at Rambha and Barkul, Hirakud reservoir, Naraj, Deras, Jhumuka, Jagannath Sagar, Jeypore, Upper Jank, Salia near Banapur, Pitamahal near Rourkela, Derjang and Upper Kolab in Koraput and Bhanjanagar.
