This award is an initiative by the Times of India group and Tefla’s, an event management group. The award is given for excellence in different fields starting from industry to sports, to art, literature and social services. This year the award function took place at Swosti Premium hotel yesterday (25th August). Chief minister Naveen Patnaik gave away the ‘Think Odisha Leadership Awards 2012’ to individuals and organisations who have contributed consistently to the betterment of the state of Orissa.
The individual recipients of the Think Odisha Leadership Awards included social activist Shanti Devi, Dr K P Mishra, IAS officer Arabinda Behera, art director Asim Basu, environmentalist Gorachand Mohanta, litterateur Soubhagya Mishra, social activist Premapatra Jani, educationist Trilochan Pradhan and a number of institutes for their contribution.
Ram Jethmalani, the eminent lawyer and veteran parliamentarian told, “I have one last wish before I die. It is that people could gather some courage to say that something is wrong with the powers that rule us. The corporate people can do this because they have the power of money. Please speak up against the dacoits who are ruling this country so that you will become the hero and idols.”
