Chiranjeevi to campaign for Congress

Odisha state Congress has decided to field Telugu superstar-turned-minister K Chiranjeevi as its star campaigner in the 2014 general elections against BJD’s actor-MP Siddhant Mohapatra.

Speaking at the felicitation function organised by the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) at the Congress Bhavan, Chiranjeevi said, “I will campaign for the party as per the request of the OPCC. I have a large number of fans in the state,” he said.

Addressing the meeting, OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik had requested Chiranjeevi, Union Minister of State for Tourism, to campaign for the party in the next elections. “You should at least visit Odisha once a month for party work,” he said.

Chiranjeevi said, “I know that a large number of Telugu-speaking people live in southern Odisha. I will definitely campaign there,” he told.
