Foreign Education Fair for Odisha students held at Bhubaneswar
Global Education Fair
VDIEC Inc, a consulting agency for overseas education services, organized a day-long fair for students interested in exploring options to study abroad was held in Bhubaneswar yesterday. Over 400 students aspiring to study abroad in their dream campuses had a rare opportunity to interact with varsity representatives and gather information on various courses, fee structures, scholarship schemes, incentives and other regulations that need to be followed for admission into a foreign educational institute.
Representatives from top notch educational institutions such as Singapore Institute of Management, National College Ireland, Campus France, Southern Institute of Technology New Zealand and Anglia Ruskin University guided students during the fair. However, this year, going against the trend of moving to the US, England or Australia for higher studies, most of the aspirants appear to be interested in colleges and universities in Ireland and New Zealand, as their immigration policies and job opportunities are better.
Inaugurating the event, former Nalco CMD S K Tamotia said the endeavour will go a long way in helping Odia students realize their dream to study in offshore locales. “I hope this fair would be a one-stop solution for students to find quality education so that they become employable,” Tamotia said.
“Indian students are doing well in foreign universities. The flexibility in the course curriculum there comes in handy for them. Also, a lot of banks have been offering education loans to encourage students to pursue higher studies abroad,†said Lauren, a representative of International College, Ireland.
Students attending the event described it as an eye-opener. “When you talk to representatives of the institutions directly, you get to know a whole lot of things. Besides, it eliminates chances of getting cheated. The event was quite helpful,” said an MBA aspirant.
Vishal Dixit, CEO, VDIEC, said the fair was organised to facilitate students of Odisha explore opportunities abroad. “We are providing information and guidance that will enable students to choose the right option,” said Dixit.
