Utkal University Joint Entrance Exam
Utkal University may introduce a separate joint entrance examination for admission into various professional courses in the varsity such as MBA, MCA, pharmacy, personal management and industrial relation (PMIR), etc.
“We have came to know that the OJEE (Odisha Joint Entrance Examination) is hesitant to share their merit list with Utkal University, so we are planning to introduce our own Utkal University Joint Entrance Examination (UUJEE) from the coming academic session,” said P K Mishra, PG Council chairman of the university.
“A separate JEE of the university will make the process of admission simpler and hassle free for both the varsity and students. We are also facing problems due to lack of coordination with the OJEE,” Mishra said. The advertisement in this regard will be issued in the first week of May, he informed.
“Meritorious students prefer Utkal University due to the quality of education and comparatively less fees than other private technical colleges. We will get better students through UUJEE than OJEE,” Mishra maintained.
OJEE authorities, however, said no decision has been taken yet about not sharing their list with Utkal University. “No such decision has been taken in this regard so far,” said Priyabrat Sahu, secretary of OJEE committee.
There are nearly 1,000 seats for different professional courses in the university. All constituent technical institutes under the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), VSS University of Technology and Utkal University have thus far been admitting students to various professional courses including engineering, medical, MBA, MCA, pharmacy, archeology, etc., from the OJEE merit list.
