Important events of Ollywood in 2012
As the year comes to an end, we are preparing some memorable incidents happened in Ollywood this year.
- Bobby Mishra and Koel Banerjee tied the knots in January this year. Bobby, who had started his career with music albums before turning to films, had a brief courtship with Koel, the popular Bengali actress, who has also worked in a couple of Odia movies.
- Comedian Papu Pam Pam emerged as a hero this year, setting a new trend of comedians making it to lead roles. His first film as hero, Rangila Toka was the biggest hit of 2012.
- After 23 years, the yesteryear superstar, Sriram Panda, appeared in public to receive the prestigious Jaydev Award instituted by the state government.
- This year was the year of big releases in Ollywood — Anubhav Mohanty left no stones unturned to make his dream project, ACP Ranveer, a huge success, Babusaan’s Love Master also gave him stiff competition. Both the films did fairly well at the box office, but did not set the cash registers ringing. The film that came silently and took away the cake was Arindam Roy’s Parshuram.
- Aparajita Mohanty finally turned producer with her first venture, Love Master, in 2012. Speculations were rife that it could be a good reason to boost her actor-son Babushan’s career. Her first production did well and received good response from the audience.
- Amlan Das, son of veteran actor Mihir Das, is about to make his debut in SK Muralidharan’s upcoming movie Target. The Muhurat that was recently held in Bhubaneswar witnessed almost everyone from Ollywood attending the do.
- December 2012 wasn’t however all good as the industry lost its revered actor Raicharan Das, on December 9. The actor who met with an accident and succumbed to his injuries is survived by two sons. He was 72. Apart from acting in movies, Das also had many appearances in devotional albums and various TV serials. (Source – The Times of India)
