400-year-old document supports origin of Rasagola in Odisha

An expert committee set up by the Odisha government has found a 400-year-old document supporting the origin of the Rasagola in Odisha.

It was known as ‘Chhena Munda’ then.

The Committee set up by the State government will submit its interim report on October 11.

“We will submit an interim report in the next two to three days and will request the government to grant us 1 month to submit the final report,” informed chairman of the committee Sudarshan Das.

On the basis of the report, the state govt will apply for the Geographical Indication (GI) tag for Rasogola.

It’s worth mentioning that the State government has formed three committees to counter West Bengal’s claim as the birthplace of Rasagola.
