Air show in Cuttack by IAF’s Akash Ganga, Sarang, Surya Kiran teams
The Indian Air Force (IAF) organised an ‘Air Show’ at the Kathojodi river bed in Cuttack to commemorate the birth centenary of late Biju Patnaik.
‘Akash Ganga’ paratroopers, advance light helicopter (ALH) formations by Sarang team and Surya Kiran aerobatic teams enthralled the people with their daredevil peacetime adventure sports over Cuttack skyline on Friday.
In the presence of Governor SC Jamir and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the IAF daredevils showcased their breathtaking aerobatic skills mesmerizing thousands of people who had gathered at the spot in the chilled morning.
The air show started at 10.45 am with ‘Sarang’ advance light helicopter formations featuring 6 helicopters followed by ‘Surya Kiran’ formation aerobatics of the IAF by ten fighter jets.
The Kathajodi sky buzzed with the roar of fighter jet engines while onlookers were left spellbound. The ‘Akash Ganga’ paratroopers wrapped up the one hour-long show with tri-colour formation which was a treat to watch for the spectators.
As many as 100 pilots, 10 IAF officials of Surya Kiran Aerobatics, Sarang Aerobatics and Akash Ganga Aerobatics teams of IAF participated in the daredevil show with 6 helicopters and 10 fighter aircrafts.
Security arrangement was tightened in Cuttack in view of the event for which 40 platoons of police force were deployed across the city.
The state government had earmarked a provision of Rs 65 lakh to be spent on the show.
