Odisha girl wins gold in national-level school chess tournament

Odisha girl Aiswarya Sahoo from Cuttack won the gold medal in the eighth national-level school chess tournament in the U-7 category at Raipur in Chhattisgarh recently.

Yashita Rout from Khurda district won a Gold Medal in the U-11 Girls category and increased her ELO rating.

Besides, Swastik Subham Pattanaik of Cuttack won a Silver medal in the U-7 boys category and Sarthak Debata of Rourkela won a Bronze medal in the U-15 Boys category.

The competition began on April 3.

Yashita studies at the Loyola school in Bhubaneswar. This is the second National medal for her. In 2015, she had received a silver medal at a chess competition in the U-7 category in Chennai.
