Crocodile attack in Jajpur Odisha today, watch viral video

Crocodile attack in Jajpur: In a tragic incident, a woman died today in a crocodile attack in the Patapur area under Bari block in the Jajpur district of Odisha. The deceased has been Jyotsna Jena.

The event allegedly occurred when the 33-year-old victim went to the Birupa River to wash some clothes. She was busy washing clothes when a crocodile attacked out of nowhere, dragged her into the water and killed her. The entire incident was captured on camera and the video is now viral on social media.

Locals launched a rescue and search effort and discovered the woman’s mutilated body. Onlookers could be seen horrified as the crocodile was captured feasting on the woman’s body on camera.

According to Abhiram Jena, the forest range officer of Dalijoda, “the forest department will pay compensation of Rs 6 lakh to the family members of the victim after an inquiry.”

The people became alarmed when they learned of the woman’s death. Attacks by crocodiles were frequently reported in the vicinity of the Bhitarkanika National Park, specifically in the Aul, Rajnagar, Pattamundai, and Rajkanika blocks in Kendrapada district and Chandabali block in Bhadrak district. The event on Wednesday happened in the village, which is around 100 miles away from the park.

It is worth noting that four people died as a result of crocodile attacks in Kendrapara. On July 28, an elderly man from Pattamundai, Amulya Das, was killed by a crocodile in the Brahmani River. On June 29, an elderly man named Gangadhara Tarai of Ghagaradiha village was killed by a crocodile. On June 14, a crocodile allegedly dragged and killed Ashutosh Acharya, a Class 5 kid from Nimpur village in Pattamundai block in Kendrapara district. Similarly, on June 21, a woman named Sita Das from Hatiagadi hamlet in the district’s Rajnagar block was the victim of a similar incident.
