First woman chess player of Odisha awarded CM title by FIDE
An international chess player Aparajita Gochhikar of Odisha has been awarded with CM (Candidate Master) title by FIDE (world chess federation).
She is the first woman chess player of Odisha as well India to get CM title.
Candidate Master title was Introduced in 2002, ranks above the WFM and WCM titles. It is awarded to players by winning medals in World or Asian events in open category.
The honorary title has been awarded to her by winning silver medal in women and bronze medal in open category at World Amateur Chess Championship 2016 held at Halkidiki, Greece in April 2016.
Other than this title she has got NI (National Instructor) title by FIDE Trainer’s Commission. Previously she has bagged three medals in Commonwealth Chess Championship.
