Odia doctor Sarat Chandra Mishra wins ‘Glory of India’ award

Noted orthopaedic physician of Odisha, Doctor Sarat Chandra Mishra has been felicitated with the prestigious ‘Glory of India’ award of the India International Friendship Society (IIFS) for outstanding contribution for the progress of the nation and world.

He received the award from former Thailand Deputy Prime Minister Korn Dabbaransi at a proramme held at Bangkok. IIFS works for promoting and forging greater unit and friendship between resident and non-resident Indians and thus contributing economic growth of India.

Speaking on his achievement, Mishra gave credit to his profession and social service.

“It is only my medical profession and service to humanity and social works that I have been able to achieve what I have now. I have undertaken a number of health camps including the one, when a record 120 patients were operated,” Mishra said.

Mishra has been working as a specialist orthopaedic physician at the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar since last 13 years. Besides, he has also served as assistant surgeon at various district headquarters hospitals of the State.
