Odisha artist creates Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s miniature using soap
L Eswar Rao, an artist from Bhubaneswar in Odisha, has made a three-and-a-half inch miniature of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel inside a bottle using soap on the occasion of the 4th Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s statue, known as the Statue of Unity, in the Narmada district of Gujarat. Against the picturesque backdrop of Vindhyachal and Satpura mountain ranges and the Narmada river, the giant memorial is the world’s tallest statue at 600 feet and is expected to be a major tourist destination in Gujarat.
“It took me three days to complete this miniature art in bottle with soap. I thought to wish the great freedom fighter Sardar Patel ji in my way on October 31,” Rao said.
Rao has been practicing miniature art since last 20 years. The National Unity Day is observed every year on the birthday of Sardar Patel. PM Modi mentions Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup in Mann Ki Baat
Larsen & Toubro, which designed and executed the project after winning a tender, deployed a team of over 3,000 workers and 250 engineers. Although the statue was designed and made in India, the bronze panels had to be cast in a foundry in China, since no such facility to handle such a huge project is available in India.
