Papu Pom Pom apologises for controversial remark on Jagannath
Popular odia comedian Papu Pom Pom apologised for his controversial remark on Lord Jagannath during the closing ceremony of Puri Beach Festival on Sunday.
While performing stand-up comedy on stage at the festival, Papu said that basil (tulasi) leaves over which street dogs pee everyday are used in the rituals of Lord Jagannath.
Tension gripped the spot following the incident as several Lord Jagannath devotees present near the stage protested the act and created ruckus demanding public apology from Papu Pom Pom.
Normalcy returned after Papu apologised for his remarks on stage.
Notably, the Odisha High Court had granted conditional bail to Papu in the minor girl casting couch case. He is accused of sexually exploiting a minor girl on the pretext of giving her a break in movies.
