Bibhuti Patnaik to get ‘Atibadi Jagannath Das award’ for 2016
Popular odia writer Bibhuti Patnaik will get ‘Atibadi Jagannath Das award’, the highest literary award of Odisha, for the year 2016.
The Odisha Sahitya Academy will confer the honour on Patnaik for his lifetime achievement and contribution to Odia literature.
Bibhuti Patnaik has written over 50 novels and sported many honours including Kendra Sahitya Academy award this year and Odisha Sahitya Academy award in 1985 for his illustrious ‘Ashwamedha ra Ghoda’ novel.
Some of his popular novels are ‘Sesha Basanta’, ‘Abhimana’, ‘Trutiya Purusha’, ‘Badhu Nirupama’, ‘Prathama Sakala’ and ‘Sesha Ratira Surya’.
Atibadi Jagannath Das Samman is a literary puraskar awarded by Odisha Sahitya Academy to an Odia language litterateur for lifetime contribution to Odia literature. This is the most respectable honor to any litterateur by the academy.
This award is named after 15th century Odia poet Atibadi Jagannath Das who was also known as Atibadi (greatest). Started in 1993, the first award was given to Odia poet Radha Mohan Gadnayak.
