India vs England ODI cricket match at Barabati Stadium on January 19

The second one-day international (ODI) match between India and England will be played at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on January 19, according to the schedule for the tour announced by BCCI.

During the tour, England will play five Tests, three ODIs and three Twenty 20 matches against India. Barabati match will be the second one of the three ODIs to be played between the host India and England. While the first cricket match will be played at Pune the third one will be played at Kolkata.

England team led by Alastair Cook is set to play first Test of the series in Rajkot on November 9.

The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) said that the ODI match is a very welcoming step for the Barabati Stadium especially the fact that on the backdrop of the public disruption during a T20 match between South Africa and India had sent the future of the internationally famed cricket stadium into uncertainty.

Meanwhile, OCA secretary Ashirvad Behera said restrictions will be put in place on carrying water bottles to the stadium during the match.

Earlier the BCCI announced six new Test venues for the national team’s fixtures in the coming season. But it has come as a huge disappointment for cricket fans in Odisha as Barabati Stadium in Cuttack has once again failed to find a place in the new Test venues for the matches to be played during 2016-17 season.
