Medicine stores at Bhubaneswar and Puri railway stations soon

East Coast Railway (ECoR) will open medicine stores at Bhubaneswar and Puri railway stations under its jurisdiction in Odisha by the end of April.

“Long-distance trains stop for only 5 to 10 minutes in Bhubaneswar and passengers cannot take the risk of going outside the station to buy medicines. Passenger association, consultative committees and individuals had long been demanding medicine stores at major railway stations,” said ECoR chief public relations officer (CPRO) J P Mishra.

Since most trains originate from Bhubaneswar and Puri, they were picked for the first phase of the programme in Odisha, he added.

The initiative is first-of-its-kind in Odisha. The medicine stores at Bhubaneswar and Puri railway stations will stock sufficient first-aid supplies and medicines commonly used during journey.
