Prem Parija – Odia actor from Odisha in Bollywood’s Commando
Prem Parija, an Odia actor from Odisha’s Bhubaneswar, is the hero of the new Bollywood web series ‘Commando’ which premiered on Disney+ Hotstar on August 11. It is a proud moment for all of Odias. Watch the trailer here.
Unbelievably, Prem was chosen for the role out of 11,000 actors who submitted their audition tapes to act as the lead in the Commando series. The first edition of Commando featured the stylish Vidyut Jammwal. Adah Sharma returns as inspector Bhavana Reddy. She is a veteran of the Commando universe. She has acted in Commando 2 (2017) & Commando 3 (2019).
“For an actor from Odisha, it is a dream to get selected for the key role. There were many factors to consider such as martial arts skills, acting skills, and good body shape. Fortunately, I had many videos which helped me in bagging the key role,” said Prem.
“Six pack played a crucial role in the character of Commando. The path from Bhubaneswar through to Hansaj College was a difficult one. There were many issues along the way, but I never thought much about them. I believed in God and everything happened,” he added.
Just a few days after the release of the series, it started getting rave reviews from all over the world. Now, to express his appreciation for the tremendous success of the Commando OTT series, the lead actor Prem Parija paid a visit to Jagannath temple in Puri, Odisha.
On his Commando character, Prem said, “In real life, one of my friend’s husbands was a commando. It helped me to see and imagine the struggle with one-of-a-kind stories. All their actions and what we see in the movies are real.”
Prior to entering the Hindi film industry, Prem worked as a director in a few films. Prem said, “I would love to do Odia movies if I get the chance.”
The director and the producer are coming to the National war memorial in New Delhi to pay homage to the real-life commandos. The Director-Producer of the show, Vipul Amrit Lal Shah, along with the Lead Actor Prem Parija, and the entire team will be attending the grand launch function. The media will also be gracing their presence.
The Commando web series of Prem Parija is produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s Sunshine Pictures. It is directed and created by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, and co-produced by Aashin A Shah. It is now streaming only on Disney+ Hotstar.
