Shelvi Mishra: first Odia girl completed MBA Aviation, now Pilot
The 25-year old Odia girl, Shelvi Mishra joined as a lady pilot from Odisha in Air Asia airlines in Bangalore on the Raja Sankranti day. Late Giribala Mohanty was the first lady Pilot from Odisha.
Shelvi is the first Odia girl who completed MBA Aviation and taken extensive training from Texas USA where she had a training of 400 hours flying experience.
The girl from Rukunapur Sasan in Keonjhar district defied societal pressure to join the male bastion in aviation and fulfilled her dream to become a pilot.
Shelvi Mishra had done her initial flying training from Texas and completed her B.Sc (Aviation) and MBA (Aviation) from India. She is the youngest woman pilot to get a commercial pilot license at the age of 21 in 2011.
Shelvi is the elder daughter of Bipin Mishra and Sukanti Mishra who reside presently at Mumbai. “My daughter is the first woman from our family to step out and do something different”, said Shelvi’s mother.
“We must not forget that Shelvi’s success lies as much in her indomitable spirit to overcome conventional opposition as in the ability to break the shackles of physical disadvantage. She had a dream to become a pilot for which I sent her to the US to study aviation. Now I am a proud father,” said her father, Bipin Mishra, a Mumbai-based businessman.
TRIO, an international school in Bangalore, where students from 32 countries presently are studying and which is ranked among best ten schools in India, felicitated Shelvi in association with Sri Jagannath Seva Trust north Bangalore on June 15 evening in a grand function.
