Smart Bus Stops in Bhubaneswar before Men’s Hockey World Cup

The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) is going to have state-of-the-art bus queue shelters (BQS) or smart bus stops in Bhubaneswar before the Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018.

The ultra-modern bus queue shelters would have covered shed to protect against rough weather with polycarbonate semi transparent roof cover, stainless steel cycle stand in which the cyclists can place their bikes and use the city bus from the BQS. The polycarbonate roof cover would be firmly fixed with the roof structure pipe and would not allow any leakage of water and thermally insulated with high level of fire resistance. The multi-layered roof would be UV protected.

The BQS will have seating arrangements, stainless dustbins, vertical signage posts, back-lit display signage board with map of Bhubaneswar. GPS-based public information system (PIS) mounted on the BQS will show real-time information on buses plying on the routes. The PIS will be linked to the city operations centre for better coordination among users (passengers) and operators.

The advertisement display panels are to be made of stainless steel frames. Proper fixing of the panel with the structure is to be done. It will be water proof and to be sealed to stop leakage of light from inside. All electrical fittings used for lighting of panels are to be inducted as per the Indian Electrical Standards. Poly carbonate sheet for the display panel is to be transparent and UV protected.

The stainless steel BQS will be low in maintenance, durable with longer lifespan, smart looking and equipped with smart IT solution and networking facility with the city operations centre.
