Odia girl Lisa Mishra records song for Kareena Kapoor and Sonam

No dream is too small or too big to achieve and Odia girl Lisa Mishra’s real-life story proves this saying just about right.

Lisa Mishra, who stays in the United States, pursues music on the side. She posted an acoustic cover of Badshah’s Tareefan on Instagram on May 19. When she woke up the next day, Sonam Kapoor had shared it, and soon she was flying down to Mumbai to record a reprise version of it.

“It was so surreal for me; I felt like I was living a Cinderella story. It was top secret; none of my friends knew about it till Sonam posted the video,” says the self-taught singer, who works in data analytics and codes for a living.

At 3 am on Sunday, the flight to Mumbai was booked, and 24 hours later, Lisa found herself sitting with Sonam, Rhea, Kareena and the rest of the Veere Di Wedding team, all set to record the video.

The best part, Lisa shares, was when she saw Kareena. “She’s my childhood idol, and when I saw her, I completely froze,” she says. “Now that I’m back, I feel like it was all a dream.” The singer, who has been sharing her music on Instagram and Youtube for the last 11 years, says she’s seen a huge spike in her fan following after the Tarefaan Reprise video.
