Odisha‬ 2nd phase elections recorded 74% polling

Odisha‬ recorded 74% polling in second phase elections which held today on April 17.

“As per the latest information, the voter turnout in the 2nd phase of polls in Odisha for 11 Lok Sabha and 77 Assembly seats is 70 percent”, said Chief Electoral Officer Mona Sharma said on the basis of information received from the ground.

The CEO, however, clarified that the final voting percentage of polling will be known only after reports come from the districts after close of voting hours at 6 pm.

Dhenkanal and Angul jointly recorded the highest voting percentage of 75% while Khurda recorded the lowest of just 45%, Sharma said.

She said it was the poor voting in Bhubaneswar (40%) which dragged the overall percentage in the district down.

Not a single vote was cast in eight out of the 15 booths in Chitrakonda Assembly constituency where repolling took place today.
